Color your World!!

Color has so many different uses when it comes to decorating your home. It creates ambiance, reflects your unique style, or it might remind you of something or somewhere and create an emotional connection! Don't be afraid of using color in your home to help reflect your uniqueness! When you use bold colors however, think about how they flow from one room to the next. If the rooms connect the colors should blend well together so when you move around you feel connected from one room to the next. I have learned that different colors typically create specific connections..............Blue for example is a color that is typically related to trust. We associate colors to places we visit, or products that are branded using colors. Navy blue might make you think coastal like a sailor......Red on it's own creates a festive, bright, ambiance but has been known to also make your feel irritable and angry if there is too much of it! Put the Navy Blue and Red together with a touch of White and you will immediately feel patriotic without even realizing it. Soft blues on the other hand will create a sense of calm and peace in your environment and will usually remind you of being at the ocean, or relaxing in a spa. What about Pink you ask? Well.....that is the color of romance and it will probably put you in a loving mood!!!! So if you are planning to redesign your home think about your color choice and remember how color impacts not only your emotion but the emotions of those around you. Keeping the permanent fixtures in your home on a neutral palette (walls, floors, tile surround etc...) and using decor to add lots of color in your home will keep you from being stuck with something that might affect your ability to update it without breaking the bank or following the latest color trends! It will also eliminate resell challenges when you are ready to move on to your next dream home. So go out there and COLOR your WORLD responsibly!!!!
